2. How would you
define your "style" when making
announcements?
Many DJ's feel the need to turn on a "Radio" or "Vegas Style"
voice when doing announcements
or speaking to your guests.
I use a more natural
approach.
I have a very warm
microphone voice and speak very
clearly and naturally to convey
things to your guests.
Obviously for things like
your Grand Entrance, I use more
emphasis, as it is appropriate
for that moment.
2a.
Will you be suitably dressed for
our event?
Absolutely. One of
my questions when we meet is
“How would you like me dressed
for your event?”.
My attire ranges from
Pool Party, to full formal
Tuxedo.
3. How do you keep
your music collection
up-to-date?
I am subscribed to a monthly music update service called ERG
NuTraxx.
This service provides me
with new music, often before it
is even playing on the radio.
More importantly, it is
"Radio Edited". You will never
have to worry about any of your
guests being offended by crude
language.
In addition, I also
subscribe to an "over the air"
service that will allow me to
search for and stream songs I
may not have hard copies of.
4. Do you take
requests from our guests?
Yes! Too many DJ's
will not take requests.
They feel they are the
experts and it interrupts their
"flow".
Unfortunately, there is
often an ego involved.
However, this is YOUR
day.
I will work closely with
you before the Wedding to create
a "Must Play" AND "Do NOT Play"
list.
I will use those as a
starting point to guide my
selections during dance time.
At that point though, it
is your guest's party and I WANT
to know what they will dance to.
I will then skillfully
blend their request with your
"Must" and "Do Not" play lists
to keep the dance floor full and
fun!
Of course, if you’d
prefer I didn’t take requests,
that can be predetermined as
well.
4a. Do
you use professional Equipment?
Yes. All of my
equipment is from reputable live
music/DJ companies such as JBL,
Yorkville, Rane, Serato, Numark,
Apple, and Yamaha.
5. What do you
charge, and what is included in
the cost of my event?
Some companies offer a la
carte pricing and charge for
every add on service they offer.
Others will inflate their
rates in order to give you
"discounts" to bring their
prices down and make you feel
like you're getting a good deal.
I prefer to use a flat-rate
pricing system and make my
packages all-inclusive. "If I
have it, it's included"!
And you should NEVER pay
extra for set-up & break-down
time!
From the American
Disc Jockey Association:
Disc Jockey
rates vary based on talent,
experience, emcee ability,
service, coordination, equipment
needed, music knowledge, mixing
ability and personality.
Rates for the DJ
industry vary greatly, ranging
from $350.00 to over $5,000.00
with an average of $1,200.00 for
a 4 hour booking. The best price
is not always the best deal,
especially if you are planning a
wedding. As a matter of fact,
surveys conclude that nearly
100% of brides would have spent
more money on their
entertainment and made it their
#1 priority in hindsight.
A full-service disc
jockey company will normally
invest 12 to 30 hours to your
special event but it may appear
that you are only paying for “4
hours”. Consultations, music
purchasing & editing,
preparation, set-up and
tear-down, education and other
business related endeavors add
up to the overall success of
your special occasion.
